Hello, I’m forwarding the ticket (#26-10-2080) recently submitted regarding the timing of the pedestrian signal and traffic light at the intersection of Broadway and Santa Clara Avenue. I received a response the following day letting me know that this issue is handled by “Street Safety Concern” and that my original ticket has now been closed. I’m forwarding the information here in hopes that it can be directed to the appropriate department for review. My concern is that the pedestrian walk signal at this intersection currently comes on at the same time vehicles receive the green light. I’ve witnessed, and personally experienced, situations where vehicles begin moving or turning while pedestrians are starting to cross. I’m hoping the City can look into whether the pedestrian signal can be activated a few seconds before vehicles receive the green light, giving pedestrians a safer head start into the crosswalk.
