Description

This property has been sitting vacant for nearly two years and has become a serious neighborhood nuisance. During that time, the owners have only had minimal yard maintenance performed once, and the property continues to deteriorate. The fence is being held together with what appears to be a temporary patch to keep it from falling onto the neighboring fence. The home's abandoned appearance has also attracted repeated trespassing attempts, and unhoused individuals have discovered the property and have tried multiple times to gain access and stay there. Various measures have been taken to prevent break-ins, but the problem continues. Property ownership comes with responsibility. If the owners can afford to let this house sit empty for years, they should also be required to properly maintain it. Meanwhile, the surrounding residents are forced to live next to an eyesore that negatively impacts the appearance, safety, and quality of our neighborhood. City of Antioch, please investigate this property for potential code violations and take appropriate enforcement action, including fines if warranted. The surrounding community should not have to bear the consequences of prolonged neglect.
