I know the signal timing at Dougherty/Dublin Blvd and Dougherty/Sierra has come up before, but it still needs to be fixed. It's worst during the evening commute, peaking around 6 p.m. This evening (Wed 11/4), I came off westbound 580. Northbound Dougherty was backed up across the overpass, maybe farther, and traffic was queued onto the westbound 580 exit ramp. This happens every day. Some days are worse than others, and tonight was the worst I've seen in a while. Two problems: 1. Dublin Blvd gets more green time than it needs. Cross traffic clears quickly. Then the light stays green with nobody using it while cars on Dougherty sit at a red. The same happens in the other directions: green lights with no cars, while Dougherty waits. 2. The Dublin and Sierra signals aren't coordinated. The short block between them fills up because Sierra stays red for a long time. Then northbound cars at Dublin have a green but can't move. Tonight the northbound light at Dublin turned red before the queue could clear. Mornings follow the same pattern southbound, though less often. Southbound Dougherty sits at a red at Sierra while the Dublin light is green. Then Dublin turns red before those cars get through, and the block backs up. I've also seen cars sit through a green at Sierra because the block is full. Their light turns red, then Dublin goes green and the block clears. Request: Please review the timing and coordination of these two signals. Dougherty's green time should match actual demand, and the two lights should be in sync so the short block between them can clear. I'm willing to time the phases myself and share the results if that would help.
