Description

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, a group held a catered event at Marlin Park from early afternoon into the early evening. Following the event, a substantial amount of litter and trash was left throughout the park. This level of disregard for our public spaces is unacceptable and does not align with the standards Foster City expects from organized gatherings. Marlin Park is a valued community asset, maintained with great care by our Parks staff and gardeners. Their work ensures that residents can enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. When event hosts fail to clean up after themselves, it undermines both the staff’s efforts and the community’s shared responsibility to preserve our parks. I respectfully request that the City review this incident and determine whether the event was permitted. If it was, I urge the City to hold the responsible group accountable for violating park rules and to consider prohibiting future reservations by this group. Our community deserves better stewardship of its public spaces. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued commitment to maintaining the quality of Foster City’s parks.
