They have a permit but it’s friends and family that are doing the work with no clue of safety hazards. Truck needs to be moved out of here everyday not just sitting there for weeks. URGENT: Ongoing Construction Safety Violations and Illegal Commercial Street Parking at 371 Arnold Dr Dear Gilroy City Council and Code Enforcement Team, I am writing to formally request immediate intervention regarding a severe, ongoing safety hazard and public right-of-way violation located at 371 Arnold Dr, Gilroy, CA 95020. Despite a previous code enforcement visit where a warning was issued, the property owner and contractor have significantly escalated their negligence, creating an immediate danger to local tenants, postal workers, and delivery drivers. The active violations include: • Sidewalk and Right-of-Way Obstruction: In addition to the large truck, they have parked a truck on a trailer that completely encroaches onto the public right-of-way and sidewalk. This forces pedestrians, children, and people with disabilities off the sidewalk and into the street to bypass the vehicle. • Hazardous Open Excavations: The contractors have left deep, completely un-barricaded, and unplated trenches open on the property and adjacent walkways. There is no caution tape, physical safety fencing, or security plating. This leaves current renters exposed to dangerous falls and entirely blocks safe ingress and egress for public service and delivery personnel. • Illegal Commercial Vehicle Storage: After being told to remove a large commercial construction vehicle from the private driveway, the owners simply relocated the heavy truck directly onto our residential public street. It has now sat completely unmoved for over a week, in direct violation of the city's 72-hour parking ordinance and residential commercial vehicle restrictions. It creates a major traffic blind spot and a severe visual blight. A single warning is entirely insufficient for a site that actively compromises public safety and local zoning laws. As a taxpayer and neighbor, I should not have to look out my window at an abandoned industrial hazard every day because city codes are not being enforced. I have attached dated photographs documenting the permanently stored commercial vehicle, the sidewalk obstruction, and the completely exposed, unsafe trenches. Please reply to confirm that a field inspector from Building Safety, Public Works, or Parking Enforcement will be dispatched immediately to issue formal citations and mandate the securing of this site. Thank you for your prompt attention to this neighborhood safety matter.
