Location: Sidewalk in front of 247 O'Connor Street, Menlo Park About two years ago, the city removed a large oak tree that was probably 100 to 150 years old from this spot. Since then, an entire section of sidewalk has been missing, and the gap has never been repaired. The only response has been an orange cone placed in the opening. The tree's roots also pushed the curb out of alignment, and that has not been addressed either. This is a real safety hazard. The opening is easy to trip or fall into, especially after dark. Because the sidewalk dead-ends at the driveway and doesn't resume until past this property line, there is no continuous, safe path along this stretch. My kids can't ride their bikes or walk through here safely, and elderly neighbors have a hard time getting around it. I have lived on this street since 2012. Given the property taxes residents here pay, it is very disappointing that this section has sat unrepaired for two years, with no sign of a plan to fix it. I'm asking the city to: 1. Make a temporary repair now to remove the immediate hazard. 2. Schedule permanent replacement of the sidewalk and curb, and tell me the expected timeline. Photos are attached. Thank you for your attention to this. Ajit Jain 269 O’Connor Street 650-387-8172
