Issue: Homeless individuals have taken over an abandoned house and created a growing encampment. Location: 1015 82nd Ave, Oakland, CA 94621 Description: A group has illegally occupied the front and driveway of an abandoned house and is blocking sidewalks, taking up parking spaces, and piling trash, machinery, and broken-down vehicles on the street. The debris is hazardous and prevents elderly residents from safely accessing the sidewalk. This has been reported before, but the situation has worsened. Impact: We are a neighborhood of retired elderly residents who pay property taxes and maintain our homes. The encampment activity is unsafe, unsanitary, and growing. Immediate cleanup, enforcement, and securing of the abandoned property are needed. Requested Action: • Clear and secure the abandoned house • Remove trash, machinery, and debris • Restore sidewalk access • Prevent re establishment of unsafe activity
