To whom it may concern, My name is Theodore ("Teddy") Bommarito, and I would like to request that the City add a loading zone/yellow curb in the parking spot pictured in the photo attached to this request, which is just south of the parklet outside of 5335 College Ave (right outside SNIPS Children's Hair Salon). As mentioned in my first 311 request (SR#1676169), I just recently signed a lease for the restaurant space at 5337 College Ave and, after doing so, visited OakDOT to arrange for the City's listed information for the existing parklet to be updated to mine. During that visit, I was made aware that the parklet had never been properly registered/permitted with the City, presumably because it was originally built during COVID, and was told to reach out to Reg Bazile, Right of Way Division Manager of OakDOT, for guidance. Reg got back to me and advised that in addition to some structural modifications that must be made to it, the parklet cannot occupy a loading zone/yellow curb, so I should submit an online 311 request to have the loading zone considered to be removed as a first step. In response to my 311 request, Kerby Olsen, Supervising Transportation Planner, Parking & Mobility Division of OakDOT, said "we'd be OK with removing the yellow loading zone under your parklet, if additional loading space is provided" and requested that I request a loading zone where the white van is in the picture provided, just south of the parklet outside 5335 College Ave (right outside SNIPS Children's Hair Salon), hence this new 311 request. On top of this, Kerby also asked that I canvass local businesses to ensure they are on board, which I have done. Not only do I have the support of the two closest businesses to this parking spot (Sean, the owner of Judoku Sushi; and Miriam, the owner of SNIPS Children's Hair Salon), but I also have the full support of ownership of the entire building (5335-5337 College Ave), Jerry Boddum.
