The unmaintained, curbside tree continues to cause progressively worse buckling sections of sidewalk, creating a significant trip and fall hazard. This last year I've had more people complaining about the sidewalk having tripped or being forced to walk into the street with strollers, elders, wheelchairs, skateboards. This is a city tree – as is the smaller tree to the left that it is choking out. I've been attempting to address this issue since 2019 with no response. This is my fourth request for Service. Many issues likely avoided if freshly planted tree was surrounded by natural materials to facilitate water absorption, drainage and root growth. Likely tree was trying to stay alive by sending out roots for air, water and nutrients hence the sidewalk buckling, root nodules appearing throughout my backyard and extensive damage (infiltration) to my drip irrigation system. Please note I am not asking that this tree be removed. Given the mayor's focus on improving green space/trees throughout the city hopefully this request can be honored. My neighbors and I greatly enjoy the shade, better air and simple beauty the tree brings to our neighborhood. Happy to answer any questions or be available to consult on site
