Formal Complaint and Request for Inspection – Ongoing Black Mold in Rental Apartment To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report on an ongoing black mold problem in the bathroom of my rental apartment and to request an inspection by the Health Department. Despite the ongoing issue, my landlord/property management has failed to properly address or remediate the mold and has instead continued to paint over the affected areas. The black mold has been an ongoing concern for an extended period of time. Rather than identifying and correcting the underlying cause of the mold and properly removing the affected materials, management has continued to cover it with paint. This does not resolve the problem, and I am concerned that the mold will continue to grow beneath the paint and return to the surface. As a tenant, I believe I should be able to live in a safe and sanitary environment without having to worry about potential health risks associated with ongoing mold exposure. A bathroom should be maintained in a condition that does not pose a risk to the health and well-being of the people living in the home. I am requesting that the Health Department investigate this matter, conduct an inspection of my bathroom and the affected areas, and determine whether the conditions violate applicable health, safety, or housing standards. I also request that the appropriate authorities require the property owner or management company to take corrective action, including properly investigating the source of the moisture, addressing the underlying problem, and arranging for appropriate mold remediation rather than continuing to paint over the affected areas. I am prepared to provide photographs, records of the ongoing problem, and any communications with management regarding this issue. I would appreciate written confirmation that my complaint has been received and information regarding the next steps in the inspection and enforcement process. I am bringing this matter to your attention because the problem has not been adequately resolved through the property’s own efforts.
