Description

Hello. I wanted to reach out regarding a pedestrian safety concern I’ve noticed at Broadway and Santa Clara Avenue. I’ve noticed that the pedestrian WALK signal seems to come on at the same time as the green light for vehicles. I’ve seen several situations, and have experienced it myself, where a vehicle is moving quickly or turning and may not see someone entering the crosswalk right away. Would it be possible for the City to take a look at the signal timing and consider having the pedestrian WALK signal come on a few seconds before the vehicle light turns green? I believe giving pedestrians a little extra time to enter the crosswalk and become visible to drivers could make the intersection feel much safer for everyone. I really appreciate you taking the time to look into this. Thank you for everything you do to help keep our streets safe :) Best Regards, Jennifer Salazar
