Description

We received approval at the September 21, 2026 Agricultural Committee Meeting to replace the concrete patio slabs in our backyard. We noticed tree roots were causing the slabs to lift creating tripping hazards and poor water drainage during rains. We felt it was urgent to replace the concrete before anyone got hurt or water damage occurred before the winter rainy season approaches . Demo on the concrete patio was started on October 15, 2026 and workers uncovered large thick, 4-5” roots coming from the sycamore tree on the city property directly behind the backyard wall. The roots were heading across the patio toward our house foundation. See photos below. We would like to know if we have rights to claim damages from the city for the replacement of our patio. Please let us know what can be done and what steps we can take to reclaim monetary costs.
