Conditions at this site are rapidly deteriorating. There's evidence of human waste, drug use, and fires at this location. These conditions create serious safety concerns immediately next to a daycare and preschool. Children, parents, and staff should be able to access the daycare safely without exposure to these hazards. Please assess this issue, and others in the area, under Oakland’s Encampment Abatement Policy, including the high-sensitivity designation for areas within 150 feet of a preschool or childcare center. Allowing this to continue is putting children in danger. I am requesting urgent action to clear the encampment and remediate the hazardous conditions. Please refer this report to the Encampment Management Team and Oakland Fire Department for coordinated assessment. If this is private property, the City must identify the appropriate enforcement authority and coordinate with the property owner to address the hazards promptly.
