Description

I am writing to formally request the removal of a dangerously compromised tree located on city property, at the open space trailhead at the end of Greenwood Ave. As documented in the attached photo, this tree poses a severe and imminent risk of catastrophic failure. The structural integrity of this tree is fundamentally compromised by its position on a steep, actively eroding embankment. The root system is visibly exposed along the cut bank, indicating a severe lack of soil retention and structural anchoring necessary to support the tree's canopy. Furthermore, the trunk leans at an extreme angle, and a massive lateral branch cantilevers entirely across the access road, bearing down directly over my fence and property. This severe weight imbalance, combined with the unstable root base, makes it a high-risk fall hazard. With impending winter storms and heavy rains, further soil saturation will inevitably weaken the already failing root system. A structural failure of either the overarching limb or the entire tree will crush my fence, damage my property, and completely obstruct the important fire road. Please dispatch a city arborist to evaluate this site immediately and schedule this hazard for removal before it causes significant property damage or blocks access.
