Dear Vallejo Code Enforcement Department, I am writing to express my concern regarding the repeated practice of the resident located at 143 Carnival ct. Vallejo, CA 94589, changing motor oil from commercial business vehicles directly on the residential streets within our cul-de-sac in Vallejo. This activity raises serious concerns about environmental contamination, neighborhood cleanliness, and the health and safety of surrounding residents. On these occasions, oil has been allowed to spill onto the street and surrounding ground without adequate precautions to contain the spills or prevent further contamination. While there is some type of gravel material used to contain the motor oil, it does not help when it rains and runs into storm drains. Residential streets are not appropriate locations for conducting commercial vehicle maintenance, particularly when proper spill-prevention measures are not being followed. Allowing motor oil to accumulate or seep into the surrounding ground creates unnecessary environmental and sanitation concerns for the neighborhood. I find it particularly concerning that these activities are being conducted in front of residential homes without consideration for the residents who live nearby or the potential consequences of improper oil disposal. I respectfully request that the City of Vallejo investigate this matter and determine whether these activities violate applicable municipal codes, environmental regulations, or restrictions on commercial vehicle maintenance in residential areas. I would also appreciate clarification regarding the proper procedures for reporting and addressing oil spills on residential streets and what enforcement measures may be available to prevent these activities from continuing. Residents should not have to worry about hazardous automotive fluids being spilled in front of their homes because commercial vehicle maintenance is being conducted without appropriate precautions. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and assistance in addressing this concern. Sincerely, Jewelle C.
