Fixed commercial machinery located at the street or alleyway level is running 24/7, severely impacting residential windows. This issue began approximately 5 to 6 months ago and has steadily deteriorated, indicating a major mechanical, pump, or bearing failure. The equipment operates in distinct, audible stages: 1. There is a constant, loud background fan baseline that never shuts off. 2. An automated thermostat or float switch regularly kicks the system into a much louder stage. When this happens, it introduces an aggressive drilling, grinding, and water-rushing sound. The noise is significantly more noticeable and disruptive at night when ambient street noise drops. It is directly preventing sleep and causing severe sleep deprivation. The physical machine is hidden from direct line of sight inside the narrow alleyway/lightwell canyon located between my building and the tall building directly adjacent to it. The concrete and brick walls are creating a canyon effect, echoing and amplifying the 24/7 noise directly into residential windows. Please send a DPH inspector with a decibel meter to walk the property perimeter to measure this fixed-equipment violation of SF Police Code Article 29.
